General Sessions Court Judge Christie Mahn Sell is so esteemed by her colleagues and the judicial community that the worst overall grade her opponent in the upcoming Aug. 7 Hamilton County general election could give her is "a solid 'B'."

Jim Coppinger deserves to be elected to a first full term as Hamilton County mayor, and, barring something unforeseen, he will be duly elected in the Aug. 7 county general election.

When Hamilton County Commissioner Joe Graham ran for the District 6 seat in 2010, people told him they didn't know or never saw their then-commissioner, who was John Allen Brooks. So they voted for a change.

Randy Fairbanks only had a few days to savor what many believed was an upset victory over incumbent Fred Skillern in the May Republican primary for the District 1 seat on the Hamilton County Commission. He had no Democrat opponent and so was virtually assured his seat.

Voters in Tennessee's 3rd District Republican congressional primary have an opportunity to take the first step on what the United States political landscape will look like in the near future.

No matter what happens, the Hamilton County Board of Education will have a dedicated educator in the District 8 seat after the Aug. 7 election.

Greg Martin, who was appointed to the Hamilton County Board of Education to fill the unexpired term of Everett Fairchild in District 3 in 2012, deserves the vote for a full term in the Aug. 7 county general election.

There's still two days left for the city of Chattanooga and Hamilton County Schools to determine they need to drag out the bickering a little longer, but it appears an agreement on more than $11 million owed the school system in delinquent liquor-by-the-drink taxes could be signed Friday.
