Stanley and Grant

The engagement of Dr. Mary Elizabeth Stanley and Scott Hulin Grant is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Lloyd Stanley Jr. Parents of the future bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. H. Wayne Grant of Signal Mountain. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Oct. 25, in Patten Chapel on the campus of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gains T. Sharp and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Lloyd Stanley. Dr. Stanley is a graduate of Girls Preparatory School. She received a bachelor’s degree in biology, magna cum laude, from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and was Phi Beta Kappa. She received a doctor of veterinary medicine from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. She was presented in the 1995 Cotton Ball. She is a veterinarian at the Chattanooga Veterinary Center and a member of Brainerd United Methodist Church. The future bridegroom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hulin Grant and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. Baker. Mr. Grant is a graduate of McCallie School. He received a bachelor’s degree in economics from UTK, where he was a member of LXA fraternity,. He received his juris doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley School of Law in Lansing, Mich. He is an attorney at Grant, Konvalinka and Harrison.

Laughlin and Sanders

The engagement of Jennifer Ann Laughlin and Thomas Ian Sanders is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Edward and Mary Laughlin III. Parents of the future bridegroom are Ken and Michelle Sanders of Las Cruces, N.M. The wedding is planned for Saturday, April 18, 2015, at North Shore Fellowship, where the bride-elect is a member. The future bride is the granddaughter of Carol K. Klee of Scottsdale, Ariz., the late Dr. Gerald S. Klee, Donna R. Laughlin of Pittsburgh and the late Edward Laughlin Jr. Miss Laughlin is a graduate of Girls Preparatory School. She received a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Kentucky. She is volunteer coordinator at Partnership for Families, Children and Adults. The future bridegroom is the grandson of James D. Sanders of Elsanor, Ala., the late Margaret Sanders, Alice M. Lee of Las Cruces and the late Stephen M. Lee. Mr. Sanders received a bachelor’s degree in community development from Covenant College. He is an admissions counselor at Richmont Graduate University and is a member of Rock Creek Fellowship.

Chaucer and Rivers

Laurin Lindsay Chaucer became the bride of Michael Robert Rivers Jr. in a ceremony on Saturday, June 14, at Hampton Lake in Bluffton, S.C. The Rev. Sam Martin performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Steve and Karla Chaucer. Parents of the bridegroom are Michael and Jane Rivers of Hilton Head Island, S.C. Haley Chaucer, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Mr. Rivers served his son as best man. A reception was held at Hampton Lake. After a wedding trip to Riviera Maya, Mexico, the couple reside on Hilton Head Island.

Lyness and McGinnis

The engagement of Bailey Ellen Lyness and Paul Timothy McGinnis is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Bret and Wendy Lyness of Signal Mountain. Parents of the future bridegroom are Paul W. McGinnis and the late Frances McGinnis. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Nov. 22, at Red Bank United Methodist Church, where both are members. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of James “Skipper” Fairbanks, the late Carolyn Fairbanks, Wilma Lyness of Signal Mountain and the late Eugene Lyness. Miss Lyness is a graduate of Red Bank High School. She received a bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, in secondary education English from Tennessee Wesleyan College, where she was on the women’s basketball team for four years. She is an English teacher and girls’ head basketball coach at Red Bank High School. Mr. McGinnis is a graduate of Red Bank High School. He is operations manager at ATC and vice-president of L.K. Grant Co. He serves on the Chattanooga Board of Plumbing Examiners, the Scenic City Football League Board and is president of Red Bank Dixie Youth.

The engagement of Jamie Alexandra Noll and Philip Madison Hill is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Midge and Ernest Noll Jr. Parents of the future bridegroom are Rochelle and Edward Hill Jr. of Raleigh, N.C. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Nov. 15, at the home of Kevin and Katie Donovan in Ringgold, Ga. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Ambrose and Marjorie Locke, Frances Noll and the late Ernest C. Noll Sr. Miss Noll received a bachelor’s degree in public relations from Lee University. She is employed by Young Life of Bradley County and is a member of Oakwood Baptist Church. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Frances Ann Tallon of Raleigh, Norman and Nancy Chambliss of Rocky Mount, N.C., and the late May and Edward Hill Sr. Mr. Hill received a bachelor’s degree in community health from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He is a guest services specialist for Young Life’s Windy Gap camp and is a member of Missio Dei Church in Asheville, N.C.

The engagement of Krista Lynn Hjelm and Timothy Wilson St. Charles is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Rick Hjelm and Debbie Hjelm, both of Denver. Parents of the future bridegroom are Sonia St. Charles and Paul Clifford of Lake Havasu, Ariz., and Dr. and Mrs. Chris St. Charles of Signal Mountain. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Jan. 3, in Boulder, Colo. Miss Hjelm received a bachelor’s degree in English literature and gender studies and a master’s degree in education from the University of Colorado in Boulder. She is an English and language arts teacher in the Boulder County school system. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Pat St. Charles Jr. of Signal Mountain. Mr. St. Charles received both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science from the University of Colorado in Boulder. He is a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church on Signal Mountain and is a senior computer engineer at Qualcomm in Boulder.

The engagement of Hannah Leigh Mathis and Daniel Lee Stoker is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Danny Mathis of Ringgold, Ga. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Pearl North of Ringgold. Mr. Stoker is a graduate of Ringgold High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from UTC. He is a senior process engineer at Shaw Industries.

The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Stanley R. Tucker Jr. of Signal Mountain and the late Mr. Tucker. Parents of the future bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. John Martin Massey. Cameron Petrie Hockaday and Jennifer Kreis Sikes were the bride’s honor attendants. Bridesmaids were Blake Bachara, Amy Vetter Hinds, Julia Anne Loveless, Bethany Massey, Mary Katherine Ogden, Shea Tankersley Sullivan and Madison Youngblood. Joseay Chaffin and Kenley Hicks were flower girls. Mr. Massey served his son as best man. Groomsmen were Josh Holland, Sean Mailen, Blake Nida, Chris Petrie, Adam Stanley and Trey Tucker. Ushers were Hank Bachara and Carson Bachara. Brown Chaffin and Collier Hicks were ring bearers. A reception was held at the Chattanooga Golf and Country Club. After a wedding trip to St. Lucia, the couple resides on Signal Mountain.

Pomerance and Stangarone

Andrea Marie Pomerance and Eric Michael Stangarone were married in Tiburon, Calif., on Saturday, May 10, 2014. The wedding ceremony at Old St. Hilary’s Church was followed by a reception at the Corinthian Yacht Club, both in Tiburon. The couple traveled to Bali, Indonesia, on their honeymoon. The Rev. Michael Nolan of Chattanooga and Deacon Frank Ruggiero (Andrea’s uncle) from Columbia, Mo., officiated. Andrea, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Glenn Pomerance (Mary) of Ooltewah, Tenn., graduated from Baylor School and from Colby College in Maine. She is Global Marketing Lead at IDEO, a design and innovation firm with headquarters in Palo Alto and offices worldwide. Eric is the son of Mr. Robert Stangarone of Boca Raton, Fla., and Mrs. Cheryl Churchill of Waterford, Va. Eric graduated from Johnson and Wales University in Charleston, S.C., with a degree in Culinary Arts and from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville with a degree in Business. Eric is Creative Director at The Culinary Edge, an international culinary consulting firm in San Francisco. He is chef and co-owner of En Su Boca, a Northern California inspired Taqueria in Richmond, Va. The couple resides in San Francisco.
