The engagement of Clarissa Mignon Anderson and Christopher Allen Carter is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Anderson of Zion, Ill. Parents of the future bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth D. Carter. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Oct. 17, at North Cleveland Church of God, where the future bride is a member. The future bride is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Burl A. Pounders and the late Mr. and Mrs. Luther W. Anderson. Miss Anderson is a graduate of Zion-Benton Township High School. She received a bachelor’s degree in Christian education and a master’s degree in youth and family ministry from Lee University. She is employed as a case manager with the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services. The future bridegroom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Hunerwadel, Ethel Carter and the late James Harry Carter. Mr. Carter is a graduate of East Ridge High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in business management from Tennessee Technological University. He is a member of Christ United Methodist Church.

The engagement of Kathryn Mary Andrews and Jon-David Blair is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Charlie and Tricia Andrews of Westerville, Ohio. Parents of the future bridegroom are Susan Blair of Ringgold, Ga., and Brad Blair of Memphis. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Sept. 12, in Columbus, Ohio. Miss Andrews received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Wright State University. She is employed as a cardiac nurse. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Doris Gulsby of Pensacola, Fla., and David and Ella Blair of Brewton, Ala. Mr. Blair received a bachelor’s degree in sociology/criminal justice from Tennessee Technological University. He is serving in the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Varnell graduated from Cleveland High School, and received a bachelor’s degree from Tennessee Technological University. He is a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church, and is employed as a community planner for the state of Tennessee.

She is employed as a speech-language pathologist at the Indiana University School of Medicine.
