De Jong and Jacobs

The engagement of Ruth Christine De Jong and Benjamin Barlow Jacobs is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Philip and Chris De Jong of Charlottesville, Va. Parents of the future bridegroom are Paul and Lynn Jacobs. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Jan. 2, at Grace Episcopal Church in Keswick, Va. The future bride is the granddaughter of Ruth Anderson Clemmens of Goshen, Ky., and the late William Barbour Clemmons Sr., John Alden Heyboer II and Wava Heyboer of Holland, Mich. Miss De Jong is a graduate of Western Albemarle High School. She received a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Texas Christian University. She attends Pacific Cross Roads Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles, and is employed as an art director for feature films. The future bridegroom is the grandson of the late Phill Tandy Roberts Jr., Margaret Hazlewood Roberts, Collins Joseph Bennie, Paul Francis Jacobs Sr. and Ruth Regina Jacobs Bennie. Mr. Jacobs is a graduate of Chattanooga Christian School. He received a bachelor’s degree in English literature and classical civilization from the University of Mississippi. He is a member of Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church, and is employed as a filmmaker.

Forrester and Smith

The engagement of Alison Kaye Forrester and David William Smith is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Randy and Sally Forrester. Parents of the future bridegroom are Randy and Shelia Smith. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Nov. 21, at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The future bride is the ganddaughter of Donald C. Payne Sr. and Lois Forrester of Rock Spring, Ga. Miss Forrester is a graduate of Girls Preparatory School. She is a student at the University of Mississippi, where she is a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. She is a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and is employed as a preschool teacher. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Bettye Smith of Madison, Tenn. Mr. Smith is a graduate of Boyd Buchanan High School and is a student at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He is a member of Burk’s United Methodist Church, and is a singer/songwriter.

Lawrence and Vanderwall

The engagement of Megan Moraine Lawrence and Aaron Matthew Vanderwall is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Tom Lawrence of Cookeville, Tenn. Parents of the future bridegroom are Tom and Jan Vanderwall of Dayton, Tenn. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Dec. 12, at First United Methodist Church in Cookeville. The future bride is the granddaughter of the late Marcella and Howard Lawrence, Martha Bacon of Cookeville and the late Russell E. Moraine. Miss Lawrence is a graduate of Cookeville High School. She received a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Auburn University. She is employed in the neonatal intensive care unit at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Elmer Vanderwall of Dayton, the late Donna Vanderwall, Velma Cave of Muskegon, Mich., and the late Jeff Cave. Mr. Vanderwall is a graduate of Rhea County High School. He received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from Samford University. He is employed as a nurse anesthetist by Upper Cumberland Anesthesia Associates in Cookeville.

The engagement of Elizabeth Allene Littrell and Derek Paul Marcoccia is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Paine Littrell, and Patricia Irene Parker of Tuscaloosa, Ala. The future bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Vincent Marcoccia of Evansville, Ind. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Dec. 26, at Forest Hills United Methodist Church in Brentwood, Tenn. The future bride is the granddaughter of Allene W. Littrell of Moulton, Ala., and the late William G. Littrell, Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Dendy of Tuscaloosa, Patricia L. Monroe of Brinkley, Ark., the late Howell Bryant Monroe and the late David O. Parker Jr. Miss Littrell received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Alabama, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority and Alpha Kappa Psi honor society. She is employed by the National Association of the State Boards of Accountancy. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Frank P. Marcoccia of Newburgh, Ind., and Mr. and Mrs. Jack H. Memmer of Evansville. Mr. Marcoccia received a bachelor’s degree in engineering in industrial supervision from the University of Southern Indiana. He is employed by Centex Homes.

The engagement of Catherine Morse Nelson and George Trone Sawyer is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Georgia Nelson, and James and Donna Nelson. Parents of the future bridegroom are Sandra and Jim Foster of Greeneville, Tenn., and George Sawyer of Hernando, Miss. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Jan. 2, in the Chapel of the Transfiguration at Kanuga Conference Center in Hendersonville, N.C. The future bride is the granddaughter of James and Sally Nelson of Boulder City, Nev. Miss Nelson is a graduate of Girls Preparatory School. She received a bachelor’s degree in music and a master’s degree in education from Vanderbilt University. She is a member of Christ Church Cathedral in Nashville, and is employed as a college counselor at Christ Presbyterian Academy in Nashville. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Patsy Stanbery of Greeneville. Mr. Sawyer is a graduate of Ridgeway High School. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Memphis. He is a member of Christ Church Cathedral, and is employed as a financial representative by Strategic Financial Partners in Brentwood, Tenn.

Wells and Mutter

The engagement of Mary Kathryn Wells and Justin Brice Mutter is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Judge Thomas Buell and Mary Jo Wells of Chevy Chase, Md. Parents of the future bridegroom are Dr. and Mrs. Mitchell L. Mutter. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Dec. 19, in Charlottesville, Va. The future bride is the granddaughter of Mrs. Duncan S. Graham of Valdosta, Ga., the late Mr. Graham, and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Elmer Wells. Miss Wells is a graduate of National Cathedral School. She received a bachelor’s degree in economics and religious studies from the University of Virginia, and a medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. She is a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Charlottesville, and is a second-year resident in emergency medicine at the University of Virginia. The future bridegroom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mutter and the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter Brice Lavender. Mr. Mutter is a graduate of McCallie School. He received a bachelor’s degree in English and religious studies from the University of Virginia and a master’s degree in history of science, medicine and technology from Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. He worked in Central Haiti with Partners in Health program for two years. He is a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Charlottesville, and is a first - year medical student at the University of Virginia School of Medicine.

Wedding

Thrasher

Emily Austin Nagle became the bride of Bradly Jackson Thrasher in a ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, at Signal Crest United Methodist Church. The Rev. Mark Gooden and the Rev. Dwight Martin performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Nagle. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Thrasher Jr. Jennifer Torrance was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Samantha Brown, Caroline Cofer, Sarah Guin, Beth Thrasher and Brittany Thrasher. Mr. Thrasher served his son as best man. Groomsmen were John Barker, Sam Guin, Brad Nagle, Lee Nagle and Matthew Wildman. A reception was held at the Loose Cannon Studio. The couple took a wedding trip to the Bahamas. They reside in Blacksburg, Va.
