Close and Jackson
The engagement of Dr. Elizabeth Denby Close and Capt. Timothy Jackson is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mathes Close. Parents of the future bridegroom are Eugene Jackson of Rockaway Park, N.Y., and Christine Jackson of Ozone Park, N.Y. The wedding is planned for Saturday, May 22, at First Christian Church, where the bride-elect is a member. The future bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Phifer of McMinnville, Tenn., Sarah M. Close and the late William B. Close. Dr. Close is a graduate of Baylor School, and received a bachelor¹s degree in biochemistry, summa cum laude, from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She was presented in the 2000 Cotton Ball. She received her medical degree with honors from the UT Health Science Center, and is chief resident in family medicine at Erlanger. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Cassie Kurkowski of Uniondale, N.Y., the late Raymond Kurkowski and the late Andrew and Marie Jackson. Capt. Jackson received a bachelor¹s degree in history and political science, magna cum laude, from Adelphi University. He has twice served in Iraq with the U.S. Army, and is a former jumpmaster with the 82nd Airborne Division. He is a member of St. Camillus Roman Catholic Church in Rockaway Park.
Kuske and Raby
The engagement of Ashley Marie Kuske and Archie Gordon Thomas Raby is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Kurt and Kim Hill. Parents of the future bridegroom are Hoyt and Donna Raby of Oliver Springs, Tenn. The wedding is planned for Saturday, May 15, at the Gordon Lee Mansion in Chickamauga, Ga. The future bride is the granddaughter of Jack and Helen Walter of Groton, S.D.. Miss Kuske is a graduate of Soddy-Daisy High School. She received an associate¹s degree in teaching from Chattanooga State Community College and attended Tennessee Technological University. She is a member of Rock Point Church, and is employed by Sears MCA. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Lois Thatcher and Bonnie Raby of Oliver Springs. Mr. Raby is a graduate of Oliver Springs High School. He attended Tennessee Temple University, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and Chattanooga State. He is a member of Rock Point Church, and is employed by Comcast.
Nikki Varnell and Steven Gibeault were married in a ceremony on Sunday, Nov. 15, in Whitefield Chapel at the Bethesda Home for Boys in Savannah, Ga. The Rev. Cecil Johnson, grandfather of the bride, performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Jeanne Varnell of Savannah and William Varnell of Cleveland, Tenn. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Gibeault of Savannah. The couple reside in Pooler, Ga.
Underdown and Seymour
The engagement of Angela Sabrina Underdown and John Jefferson Seymour III is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Doug Fallin of St. Augustine, Fla. Parents of the future bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. John Seymour Jr. of Fitzpatrick, Ala. The wedding is planned for Saturday, May 8, in Columbus, Ga. Miss Underdown received a bachelor¹s degree in psychology and a master¹s degree in clinical psychology from LaGrange College. She is employed as a licensed counselor by Lookout Mountain Services. Mr. Seymour received a bachelor¹s degree in computer science from LaGrange College. He is employed as a quality assurance tech by Quiktrip Kitchens.
Campbell and Raley
The engagement of Jordan Elise Campbell and Derrick Michael Raley is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Janet McInturff and Mac Campbell. Parents of the future bridegroom are Patricia Kvamme and Mark Raley of Rodeo, N.M. The wedding is planned for Thursday, May 13, at the Grandview on Lookout Mountain. The future bride is the granddaughter of Dorothy Britton of Mannford, Okla., and Dewey Campbell. Miss Campbell received a bachelor¹s degree from Middle Tennessee State University. She is employed as a skilled clerical coordinator by Guardian Home Care. The future bridegroom is the grandson of David and Diane Raley of Redlands, Calif., and Daniel Harris of Bristow, Okla. Mr. Campbell is a student at MTSU.

The couple took a wedding trip to Columbia, South America, and now reside in Washington, D.C.
