Godfrey

Leigh Michelle Cooper became the bride of Mark Thomas Godfrey in a ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 17, at First Existentialist Congregation in Atlanta. The Rev. Paul Clifton performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Joe and Cecelia Cooper of Trussville, Ala. Parents of the bridegroom are Tom and Cecile Godfrey of Fairhope, Ala. After a wedding trip to Portugal, the couple reside in Atlanta.

Engagement

Butcher and Wight

The engagement of Meghan Kimberly Butcher and Andrew Glen Wight is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Craig and Rebecca Butcher of Charlotte, N.C. Parents of the future bridegroom are Mark and Carol Wight of Provo, Utah. The wedding is planned for Saturday, May 1, in Provo. The future bride is the granddaughter of Ellen Carter of Severn, Md., the late John F. Carter, Donna Butcher of Pocatello, Idaho, and the late Richard L. Butcher. Miss Butcher is a graduate of Hixson High School. She received her bachelor¹s and master¹s degree¹s in sociology from Brigham Young University. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and is employed as a teaching assistant/research assistant by Brigham Young University. The future bridegroom is the grandson of the late Lou and Helen McNairy and the late Lowen and Anna Wight. Mr. Wight is a graduate of Timpview High School and Brigham Young University. He is a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and is a linguist in the United States Navy.

Ezell and Petree

The engagement of Jessica Brooke Ezell and David Hoke Petree III is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Danny and Pam Ezell. Parents of the future bridegroom are Hoke and Fran Petree. The wedding is planned for Sunday, April 25, at First Christian Church, where the future bridegroom is a member. The future bride is the granddaughter of Ed and Barbara Hampton of Leoma, Tenn., and Max and Audry Ezell of Loretto, Tenn. Miss Ezell is pursuing a biochemistry degree at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She is a member of Central Baptist Church. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Susan Petree of Tobaccoville, N.C. Mr. Petree is a business major at Covenant College. He is employed by TVA security.

Grant and Winn

The engagement of Tiffany Sherrell Grant and John Bradley Winn is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Jim and Phyllis Grant. Parents of the future bridegroom are Greg and Lillie Ann Winn of Montezuma, Ga. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Feb. 27, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, where the bride-elect is a member. The future bride is the granddaughter of Jim Grant Sr., the late Meredith Grant, and the late Freda and George Kumorowski. Miss Grant received a bachelor¹s degree in civil engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She received a master¹s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She is employed as a design engineer by Alstom Power Systems. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Helen and John Winn of Atlanta and the late Marguerite and Charles Knowlton. Mr. Winn receievd a bachelor¹s degree in polymer and fiber engineering from Georgia Tech, where he was president of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He is a member of First Baptist Church of Montezuma, and is employed as a process engineer by Proctor & Gamble in Albany, Ga.

Jackson and Smith

The engagement of Karen Elizabeth Jackson and Charles Matthew Smith is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Steve and Sarah Jackson. Parents of the future bridegroom are Charlie and Annette Smith. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Feb. 6, at First-Centenary United Methodist Church. The future bride is the granddaughter of Jimmie Sexton, the late Thomas D. Sexton, and Mr. and Mrs. R. Cecil Jackson. Miss Jackson is a graduate of Red Bank High School and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She is a member of Whiteside United Methodist Church, and is employed as a teller by First Tennessee Bank. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Harris, Barbara Chandler and the late Charlie N. Smith Sr. Mr. Smith is a graduate of Red Bank High School and Tennessee Technological University. He is a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church, and is employed by Ace Hardware.

The future bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Edward Braly III and Mr. and Mrs. Robert James McLachlan Jr. Parents of the future bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Glenn Butler of Cypress Inn, Tenn. The wedding is planned for Saturday, March 20, at Miller Plaza. The future bride is the granddaughter of Craig Houston Patterson Jr., the late Shirley S. Patterson, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert James McLachlan Sr. of Martinsville, Va. Miss McLachlan is a graduate of Girls Preparatory School. She received a bachelor¹s degree in architecture, cum laude, from Georgia Institute of Technology, and a master¹s degree in architecture from the University of Texas at Arlington. She is a member of St. Paul¹s Episcopal Church, and is employed as an architect by Artech. The future bridegroom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Carroll Butler, the late Eleanor Schneider and the late Michael Lubinecki. Mr. Butler is a graduate of Collinwood High School. He received a bachelor¹s degree in communications from the University of Tennessee at Martin, and a master¹s degree in business administration from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He is employed as a billing specialist by Receivia in Cleveland, Tenn.

Hitch

Emily Ellen Beene became the bride of Bradford A. Hitch in a ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Little Brown Church on Signal Mountain. The Rev. Chase Whitmire performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary D. Beene. Parents of the bridegroom are Robert Hitch and Susan Hitch of Maryville, Tenn. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Bridesmaids were Kendall Beene Crowder, Katie Beene Whitmire and Nanci Vessels Mackey. Laura Hitch, Alice Whitmire and Mae Mae Whitmire were junior bridesmaids. Lila Crowder, Liza Whitmire, Tallulah Whitmire and Josephine Crowder were flower girls. Pete Hitch, Scott Hitch and Alex Beene served as the bridegroom¹s attendants. Todd Hitch was the bell ringer. A reception was held at the Tennessee River Place. After a wedding trip to Amelia Island, the couple reside in Maryville, Tenn.
