She is pursuing a nursing degree at Dalton State College. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Garnett and Kathleen Forrester of Flintstone, Carvey Thompson of High Point, Ga., and the late Genevieve Thompson. Mr. Forrester is a graduate of Ridgeland High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Southern Polytechnic State University and teaching certification from the University of Georgia. He is a teacher at Chattanooga Valley Middle School.

Scott and Dixon

The engagement of Nell Mae Scott and Christopher David Dixon is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan James Scott of Houma, La. Parents of the future bridiegroom are Sandra E. Dixon and the late David Carl Dixon. The wedding is planned for Saturday, July 17, at Bourbon Orleans Hotel in New Orleans. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Levi Robertson of Houma and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ruby Scott. Miss Scott received a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Louisiana at LaFayette, where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. She received a master’s degree in public administration from Louisiana State University. She is a member of Vision Christian Center and is employed as a policy and research analyst by the Louisiana State Employees’ Retirement System. The future bridegroom is the grandson of the late Frank and Francis Dixon, the late LeRoy Eckley and the late Lucritia Dudley. Mr. Dixon received a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Auburn University and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He is a member of Hixson United Methodist Church and is employed as a directional drilling engineer by Schlumberger Oilfield Services.

Dr. Joanna M. Koutros became the bride of Dr. Christopher P. Bechtel in a ceremony on Saturday, May 15, at Holy Trinity-St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Staten Island, N.Y. The Rev. Nicholas Petropoulakos and the Rev. Francis Hughes performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Konstantinos Koutros of Staten Island. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. James T. Hughes Jr. and Scott A. Bechtel of Pensacola, Fla. Dr. Stella Koutros was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Georgia Plevritis, Dr. Laura Brower and Venessa Fang. Adrianna Ortiz was the flower girl. Daniel Robertson served as best man. Groomsmen were George Koutros, Patrick Christiana and Pierre Dabit. Alex Pevritis was ringbearer. A reception was held at The Hilton Garden Inn in Staten Island. After a Caribbean wedding trip, the couple reside in Cleveland, Ohio, where both will start their internships and residencies at Case Western Hospital.

The bride is the daughter of David and Mary Harbison of Birmingham. Parents of the bridegroom are Jack and Vicki Steele. Kristy Brewer was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Karen Chappell, Kip Harbison, Tricia Lovelady, Nancy Smith and Chelsey Steele. Mr. Steele served his son as best man. Groomsmen were Valton Beard, Steven Chaney, Jeff Harbison, Rodney Skiles and Ben Wildman. A reception was held at the church. After a wedding trip to Hawaii, the couple reside in this city.
