The engagement of Laura Elizabeth Baker and Nathaniel Collins Cartwright is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Eugene and Alyese Baker. The future bridegroom is the son of Jerry and Cathy Cartwright. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Aug. 13, at Mountain Oaks Wedding Chapel. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Eugene and Anne Baker and William and Nell Carpenter. Miss Baker is a graduate of Ooltewah High School and received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She is a member of Providence Baptist Church. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Wallace and Anna Mae Collins. Mr. Cartwright is a graduate of Central High School.

Mr. Hayes received a bachelor’s degree in business education from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He is a member of Christ United Methodist Church and is employed by Volkswagen in Auburn Hills, Mich.

He received a degree in criminal justice from Georgia Northwestern Technical College. He is a member of Parkway Baptist Temple, and is employed by the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Department.
