Abbott and Burgin

The engagement of Jena Noelle Abbott and Matthew Davis Burgin is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Jeffrey M. Abbott and Robin Patten. Parents of the future bridegroom are Mark and Margie Burgin. The wedding is planned for Friday, May 20, at Tennessee River Place. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of James and Jeanne Abbott, Willis Dent and the late Shirley Dent. Miss Abbott is a graduate of Hixson High School and received an associate’s degree from Chattanooga State Community College. She is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in health and human sciences from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She is a member of Daisy First Baptist Church and is employed by J. Alexander’s. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Betty Hale, the late Edmund Hale, and Helen and Ernest Burgin. Mr. Burgin graduated from Hixson High School and attended the University of New Mexico. He is a member of Tyner United Methodist Church and owner of Top Notch Carpentry.

Cline and Wiles

The engagement of Samantha P. Cline and Michael T. Wiles is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of the late Sam and Diane Tucker. Parents of the future bridegroom are Ron and Lannie Wiles of Orlando, Fla. The wedding is planned for Friday, April 22, at Fairyland Club. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Herman and Beaulah Munger. Ms. Cline received certification in surgical technology from Northwestern Technical College. She is employed as a surgical technology instructor. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Mele and Sophie Chuich of Steubenville, Ohio, Gladys Wiles of Weirton, W.Va., and the late Doyle Wiles. Mr. Wiles received a bachelor’s degree in zoology from Ohio State University, where he was a member of Chi Phi Fraternity, and a doctor of podiatric medicine from Des Moines University. He is a podiatrist with Chattanooga Advanced Foot Care.

DeFriese and Cureton

The engagement of Chelsie Renee DeFriese and Joshua Randall Cureton is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Rodney and Kelli DeFriese of Trenton, Ga. Parents of the future bridegroom are Randall and Joy Cureton of Slygo, Ga. The wedding is planned for Saturday, May 21, at Pee Wee Payne’s Park in Rising Fawn, Ga. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Becky Arnold, Lavoy Moss of Oak Ridge, Glenda DeFriese and Spencer DeFriese. Miss DeFriese is a graduate of Dade County High School. She is pursuing an associate’s degree in dental assisting at Miller Motte Technical College. She is a member of Thankful Memorial Episcopal Church and a teacher at Primrose School. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Cureton of Slygo and the late Mr. and Mrs. David Bennett. Mr. Cureton is a graduate of Dade County High School. He is a member of First Baptist Church in Trenton and is employed by Siskin Steel.

The engagement of Taryn Elizabeth Hickman and Curtis Lee Fairbanks Jr. is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald C. Hickman. Parents of the future bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Lee Fairbanks Sr. The wedding is planned for Saturday, April 9, at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hickman of Georgetown, Tenn., and the late Joyce Christenberry. Miss Hickman is a graduate of Ooltewah High School. She received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She received a master’s degree in nurse anesthesia from Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia. She is a member of Tyner United Methodist Church and is employed as a nurse anesthetist by Anesthesiologists Associated. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Edna Fairbanks, the late Gene Fairbanks and the late James and Estelle Hickman. Mr. Fairbanks is a graduate of Soddy-Daisy High School. He received a degree in cosmetology from Highland School of Cosmetology. He is employed as a master director hairstylist by Hairbenders International.

Muckenthaler of Oak Ridge, and the late Mr. and Mrs. James W. Valentine. Miss Muckenthaler is a graduate of Notre Dame High School. She attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. She received a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She attends St. Stephens Catholic Church and is employed by Chattanooga State Community College. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Rita Salloga, the late Fred Salloga, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ben Jones. Mr. Jones graduated from of Notre Dame High School. He is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from UTC, where he is a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He is employed by Chattem Inc. and Sears.

The engagement of Sara Eve Rountree and David Earl Wright Jr. is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel C. Rountree of Roswell, Ga. The engagement of Elizabeth Aubrey Wilson and William Stuart Davey is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Mike Wilson and Mary Beth Wilson, both of Nashville. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Deanise Barnes of Ashland City, Tenn., the late Milton Barnes, Elizabeth Walton of Durham, N.C., and the late Willard Walton. Miss Wilson is a graduate of Father Ryan High School. She received a bachelor’s degree in human ecology, magna cum laude, from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She is a teacher with the Knox County Schools. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Mildred Buckner, the late Fred Vickery, the late Ellen Bergan and the late William N. Davey. Mr. Davey is a graduate of Notre Dame High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in economics from UTK, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. He will attend Officer Candidate School in Fort Benning, Ga., in May.

Wedding

Rushworth and Hollander

Rachel Marie Rushworth became the bride of Christopher Michael Hollander in a ceremony on Sunday, Dec.19, at Second Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Frank Jump performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Rick and Suzanne Rushworth. Parents of the bridegroom are Joel and Anita Hollander of Knoxville. Elizabeth Rushworth Bradford was matron of honor for her sister. Bridesmaids were Becky Kuhn, Katie Franklin, Rachel McRee, Lindsay York, Kristy Minton and Courtenay Rushworth. Gary Thomas Podgorski served as best man. Groomsmen were Michael Houbre, Evan Giordano, Brian Icerman, Marshall Rushworth, Nick Bradford and Tim Wilhoit. Seth Cooper was the junior groomsman. A reception was held at the Chattanooga Choo Choo ballroom After a wedding trip to Walt Disney World, the couple resides in Louisville, Tenn.
