Engagement

Cole and Oaks

The engagement of Amy Elizabeth Cole and Charles Christian “Chuck” Oaks II is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Mark and Meg Cole. Parents of the future bridegroom are Chris and Tracy Oaks of Jasper, Tenn. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Oct. 1, at Lookout Bed and Breakfast. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of James and Elizabeth Leonard of Ringgold, Ga., Nancy Cole Tatum and the late Brice Cole. Miss Cole is a graduate of Central High School. She is a student at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and is a member and assistant worship arts pastor at New Beginnings Church in Jasper. She is employed as an administrative assistant at UTC. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Charles and Glenda Oaks of South Pittsburg, Tenn., and the late Robert and Lillie Stephens of Humboldt, Tenn. Mr. Oaks graduated from Light House Christian Academy home school program. He attended Lee University and is pursuing a degree in elementary education at Chattanooga State Community College. He is a member of New Beginnings Church and employed by Tull Brother’s Glass.

Engagement

Fox and Gentry

The engagement of Meagan Fox and Bradley Gentry is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Raymond and Leslie Fox. Parents of the future bridegroom are Charles and Annette Gentry of Cleveland, Tenn., and Georgia Webb. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Oct. 1, at St. Stephen Catholic Church, where the bride-elect is a member. The future bride is the granddaughter of Raymond and Shirley Fox, Harriet Ellis of Panama City Beach, Fla., and the late William A. Ellis. Miss Fox is a graduate of Notre Dame High School and Middle Tennessee State University. She is a teacher at the children’s center at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. The future bridegroom is the grandson of the late Charles and Annie Gentry and the late Robert and Edna Blevins. Mr. Gentry is a graduate of Bradley Central High School and MTSU. He is employed as a teller at First Tennessee Bank.

Ivey and Evatt

The engagement of Paige Ivey and Tyler Evatt is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of David and Cynthia Guffey. Parents of the future bridegoom are Michael and Rebecca Evatt. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Oct.1, in Patten Chapel on the campus of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Ronald Cookston of Whitwell, Tenn., Harold and Ruth Guffey of Rossville, the late Carolyn Tate and the late Barbara Smith. Miss Ivey received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from UTC, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, and a juris doctorate from Thomas Goode Jones School of Law at Faulkner University. She is a member of Woodland Park Baptist Church. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Gilbert and Irene Stone, Rosa June Miller, Bobbie Evatt and the late H.Q. Evatt. Mr. Evatt is a graduate of McCallie School. He is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice at UTC. He is a member of Woodland Park Baptist Church.

Shropshire and Fischer

Kelli Nicole Shropshire became the bride of Barrett Andrew Fischer in a ceremony on Saturday, July 9, at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church. The Rev. Gordon Temple performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Karla Shropshire and the late Robert Arden Shropshire. Parents of the bridegroom are Barry Fischer and Mr. and Mrs. John Rodgers. Joy Cecil was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Rebecca Parton and Courtney Kendrick. Jillian Trowell was the junior bridesmaid. Reynolds Fischer was best man. Groomsmen were Brad Davis and Brent Davis. Alex Duke and Trey Pitt were ushers. A reception was held the Waterhouse Pavilion in Miller Plaza. The couple took a wedding trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. They reside in this city.

Phillips and Flanagan

Leslie Phillips became the bride of Paul Flanagan in a ceremony on Saturday, June 18, at Bedford Free Methodist Church in Bedford, Ind. The Rev. Larry Ritter performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Steve Phillips of Mitchell, Ind. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Bill Flanagan of Granger, Ind. Katie Phillips was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Jessica Hoehn, Jennifer Semeyn, Katie Flanagan and Elizabeth Neumann. Chloe Utz was the flower girl. Kevin Flanagan served as best man. Groomsmen were Tim Foley, Chris Flanagan, Stephen Kaluzne and Chris Utz. A reception was held at Bloomington Country Club in Bloomington, Ind. The couple took a wedding trip to St. Lucia. They reside in this city.

Lori Renee Hope became the bride of Bryan Taylor Meredith in a ceremony on Saturday, July 30, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. The Rev. T. Allen Humbrecht performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Roma Stone and the late Daryl Hope. Parents of the bridegroom are Dr. Gary and Vickie Meredith. Melissa Schoults was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Marina Meredith, Megan Cox, Caroline Flewellen, Marie Moore, Elizabeth Middleton and Danya Smith. Audrey Hope was the junior bridesmaid. Alexa Clemons was the flower girl. Dr. Meredith served his son as best man. Groomsmen were Lt. Sean Meredith, Ryne Meredith, Val Meredith, Tevis Meredith, Dennis Clemons, Ens. Parker Long, Rob Carden, Mark Anderson and Ethan Hope. Owen Hope, Bryson Meredith and Brady Meredith were ring bearers. Ushers were Dave Badham, Jake McCart, Curtis Mostellar, Mark Young and Mike Robinson. A reception was held at Pier 2, Riverboat Landing. After a wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple resides in Charlotte, N.C.

Jessica Lynn Coppinger became the bride of Larry Guy Moffett in a ceremony on Monday, Aug. 1, on Lindquist Beach in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. The Rev. Stuart Scott performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Terry and Debbie Mosley Cooper and the late Michael Coppinger. The bridegroom is the son of Glenn Moffett of Spring City, Tenn., and the late June Moffett. Tiffany Coppinger Hughley, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Abigail Hughley was the flower girl. A reception was held at Havana Blue in St. Thomas. The bride is the granddaughter of the late James and Edna Mae Billingsley Mosley and the late David and Tula Mae Pickett Coppinger. She is employed as a registered nurse with Volunteer State Health Plan, BlueCrossBlueShield of Tennessee The bridegroom is the grandson of the late Monroe and Ruby Moffett and the late Vernon and Kathryn Oakley. Mr. Moffett is a specialist at TVA. After a honeymoon in St. Thomas and St. John, in the U.S. Virgin Islands, the couple resides in this city.
