Cockrill and Pendley

The engagement of Katie Cockrill and Joe Pendley is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of David and MaryKathryn Cockrill of Maryville, Tenn. Parents of the future bridegroom are Bruce and Debbie Pendley. A July wedding is planned at Tennessee RiverPlace. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Franklin Cletus Ellis, Gladys Ellis and the late Martha Marie Cockrill. Miss Cockrill is a graduate of Maryville High School. She received a bachelor’s degree in communications, food and nutrition from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. She is a member of Fairview United Methodist Church and is an executive assistant at Quality Financial Concepts. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Raymond Eugene and Louise Pendley, William Joseph Grammer of Bradenton, Fla., and Martha Speir. Mr. Pendley is a graduate of McCallie School. He received a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from UTC, where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He is a member of Calvary Chapel and is a chemist.

Donaldson and Overton

The engagement of Holland Ann Donaldson and Dr. John Anderson Overton is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Colin Donaldson of Wilmington, N.C. Parents of the future bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hudson Overton. A spring wedding is planned at First Presbyterian Church in Wilmington. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Taylor Bibb III and the late Mr. and Mrs. Colin Charles Donaldson. Miss Donaldson received bachelor’s degrees in journalism and political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is employed as a marketing director and real estate agent with Charter Building Group and Porters Neck Plantation in Wilmington. The future bridegroom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Roger Anderson and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Swepston Overton Jr. Dr. Overton received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Clemson University and a doctorate in dental surgery from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He is practicing family dentistry in Wilmington.

The engagement of Wendy Holmes and Ronnie Johnson is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Robert and Verna Holmes. Parents of the future bridegroom are Ronnie and Julie Johnson of Fairhope, Ala. An October wedding is planned in Fairhope. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Fred Verley of Sheridan, Wyo., the late Joyce Verley, Julia Holmes of Bradenton, Fla., and the late Jake Holmes. Miss Holmes received a bachelor’s degree in international business from Creighton University and a master’s degree in teaching from Trevecca Nazarene University. She is a teacher, and a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Lottie Barrett, the late Ronnie Lee Johnson, Clifford Straum and the late Theresa Straum, all of Fairhope. Mr. Johnson received a bachelor’s degree in building science from Auburn University. He is a construction manager and a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.

The future bridegroom is the grandson of Limuel F. Farris of Unionville, Tenn., the late Gladys Farris, Mildred F. Nelson of Detroit Lakes, Minn., and the late Carl C. Nelson. Mr. Nelson received a bachelor’s degree in geology from UTC. He is a geologist.

The future bride is the granddaughter of George and Joan Swistock and the late Dr. Robert Gehly of Inkster, Mich., Kenneth W. Pearson of Ypsilanti and the late Audrey Pearson. Miss Pearson is a graduate of Lincoln High School. She received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan Technological University, where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She received a master’s degree in global automotive engineering and manufacturing from the University of Michigan. She is a mechanical engineer at General Motors in Warren, Mich. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Irene Daniel of Clarksville, Tenn., the late John L. Daniel, and the late Rose and Simon Cohen. Mr. Cohen is a graduate of Ooltewah High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and a master’s degree in global automotive engineering and manufacturing from the University of Michigan. He is a former member of B’nai Zion Synagogue and is a mechanical engineer at General Motors in Milford, Mich.
