Engagement

Bagdonas and McTee

The engagement of Elizabeth “Betsy” Helena Bagdonas and Elias “Eli” Thomas McTee is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Gail Bagdonas and the late Joe Bagdonas Jr. Parents of the future bridegroom are Jan McTee of Rocky Face, Ga., and the late Tommy McTee. The wedding is planned for Saturday, July 28, at Baber House at Kennesaw Farms in Gallatin, Tenn. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Betty Groves of Chickamauga, Ga., the late Arnold Groves and the late Pearl and Joe Bagdonas. Miss Bagdonas is a graduate of Red Bank High School. She received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Freed-Hardeman University. She is employed in public relations in Nashville, and is a member of Harpeth Hills Church of Christ. The future bridegroom is the grandson of James and Alwilda Shepherd of Rocky Face and the late Howard and Juana McTee. Mr. McTee is a graduate of Northwest Whitfield High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in health and education from Lipscomb University and a master’s degree in instructional leadership from Tennessee Technological University. He is a teacher and assistant men’s basketball coach at Summit High School in Spring Hill, Tenn., and a member of Harpeth Hills Church of Christ.

Engagement

Donaldson and Poore

The engagement of Megan Elizabeth Donaldson and Timothy Patten Poore is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. R. William Donaldson. Parents of the future bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Willis “Mike” Poore III of Knoxville. The wedding is planned for Saturday, July 21, at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church, where the bride-elect is a member. The future bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Amos R. Callihan and the late Dr. and Mrs. Richard B. Donaldson. Miss Donaldson is a graduate of Baylor School. She received a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Furman University, where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority, and a master’s degree in speech language pathology from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She was presented in the 2004 Cotton Ball. She is a speech language pathologist for Blount County schools. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. William Pierce of Corryton, Tenn., Evelyn Poore of Knoxville, and the late W.P. Poore. Mr. Poore is a graduate of Knoxville Christian Academy. He received a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering and master’s degrees in engineering and business administration from UTK. He is a biomedical engineer for DeRoyal Industries and a member of West Park Baptist Church in Knoxville.

Prince and Fisher

The engagement of Lara Catherine Prince and Jeremy Patrick Fisher is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lew A. Prince of Glencoe, Ala. Parents of the future bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Fisher. The wedding is planned for Saturday, July 28, in Patten Chapel on the campus of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Dobbs of Gadsden, Ala., Mrs. Wayne L. Prince Sr. of Glencoe, and the late Mr. Prince. Miss Prince is a graduate of Westbrook Christian School. She received a bachelor’s degree in business from Auburn University, where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. She is employed by TVA and is a member of Stuart Heights Baptist Church. The future bridegroom is the grandson of the late Vera Jo Swafford, the late Ed Fisher and Bobby Brewer. Mr. Fisher is a graduate of Soddy-Daisy High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a master’s degree in business administration from UTC. He is employed by TVA and is a member of Stuart Heights Baptist Church.

Thompson and Greer

The engagement of Kathryn DuPree Thompson and John McGinness Greer is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Nordeck Thompson of Winchester, Tenn. Parents of the future bridegroom are Dr. and Mrs. Michael S. Greer. The wedding is planned for Saturday, Aug. 4, at First-Centenary United Methdist Church, where the future bridegroom is a member. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Pruett Sr., and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Nordeck Thompson Sr. Miss Thompson received a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from the University of Georgia and is pursuing a master’s degree in architecture at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She is a member of Winchester First Baptist Church. The future bridegroom is the grandson of C. Gene Hixson of Dunlap, Tenn., the late Vivian Kell Hixson, and Mr. and Mrs.Thomas A. Greer of Dunlap. Mr. Greer received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and is pursuing a master’s degree in engineering and business at UTK.

Tew and Gates

Jennifer Barbara Tew became the bride of Jordan Beard Gates in a ceremony on Saturday, May 5, at Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville. Ralph Griggs performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William Tew. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. John Herbert Gates of Eudora, Ark. Emily Carney Debuys and Erin Stagmaier Fuge were the bride’s honor attendants. Jamie Isaac Tew, KerriBeth Ryann Tew, Lisa Michelle Rygal,Tara Chantel Manis, Kimberly Elizabeth Elmore, Lauren Carmel Brewer, Shibahn Kirin Guerre, Camille Cunningham Chapleau and Jennifer Counce Parthenais were bridesmaids. Grace Elaine Tew and Isabelle Elaine Gates were flower girls. John Caleb Gates and Matthew Paul Brown served as best men. Steven Michael Tew, William Brian Tew, James Frances Lensing, Peter Allen Lensing, Kurt Wayne Cunningham, Steven Henderson Brown, Jackson David Kiefer, William Earnest Seaman and Joel Albert Fulmer V were groomsmen. Clayton Michael Lee was ring bearer. A reception was held at the Gaylord Springs clubhouse. After a wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple resides in Nashville.

Donaldson and Overton

Holland Ann Donaldson became the bride of Dr. John Anderson Overton in a ceremony on Saturday, May 12, at First Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, N.C. Dr. Ernest Trice Thompson III performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Colin Donaldson of Wilmington. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hudson Overton. Lauren Ashley Miller was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Margaret Blanton Overton, Micah Renee McGowan, Brittney Nicole Lifsey, Lindsay Allison Sykes, Kelsey Leigh Glisson, Lillian Lois Helen Knoepp and Patricia Sarah Charlotte Knoepp. Reiko Maehara Bibb, Haven Emily Overton and Francesca Rose Overton were flower girls. Frank Hudson Overton Jr. served his brother as best man. Groomsmen were Bryan Colin Donaldson, James Wharley Overton Jr., William Carter Mebane IV, George Paul Browske and Stephen Christopher VanEtten. John Taylor Bibb V was ring bearer. A reception was held at Airlie Gardens in Wilmington. After a wedding trip to the British Virgin Islands, the couple resides in Wrightsville Beach, N.C.
