Baker and McGowan

The engagement of Teisha M. Baker and Jarvarus McGowan is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of the Rev. Darnell and Emily Baker. Parents of the future bridegroom are J.R. McGowan and Jacqueline Jennings McGowan. The wedding is planned for Saturday, April 7, in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Ms. Baker received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Mr. McGowan received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Middle Tennessee State University.

Cross and Smedema

The engagement of Caitlin A. Cross and Robert J. Smedema II is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Ancel and Anne Cross of Ripley, Miss. Parents of the future bridegroom are Amy and Harvey Williams of Ringgold, Ga. The wedding is planned for Saturday, March 24, in Memphis. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gaddis, Mrs. Quay Hurt Cross of Falkner, Miss., and the late Ancel “Cub” Cross. Miss Cross is a graduate of Ripley High School. She received a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Mississipppi State University, where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She received a master’s degree in occupational therapy from Tennessee State University. She is an occupational therapist at Signature Health Care in Memphis, and is a member of Ripley First Baptist Church. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Craig of LaFayette, Ga., Jim Smedema of Biloxi, Miss., and the late Hilda Brown Smedema. Mr. Smedema is a graduate of Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School. He received bachelor’s degrees in economics and Spanish from Mercer University, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He is a western-zone key account manager for Michelin in Denver, and is a member of Boynton United Methodist Church.

The engagement of Kathleen Blair Farr and Tyler Bishton Stinnett is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. John Farris Farr Jr. Parents of the future bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Donald Sidney Stinnett. The wedding is planned for Sunday, May 27, at Baylor School chapel. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Farris Farr, the late Daphne Choate Blair and the late Kenneth Everett Blair. Miss Farr is a graduate of Baylor School. She received a bachelor’s degree in economics, cum laude, from Vanderbilt University. She is a member of White Oak United Methodist Church, and is an investment banker with SunTrust Robinson Humphrey in Atlanta. The future bridegroom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Joseph Stinnett and the late Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Reece Woolard. Mr. Stinnett is a graduate of Baylor School. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in sports management from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He is an account representative with Collegiate Licensing Co., a subsidiary of IMG College in Atlanta.

The future bridegroom is the grandson of Don and Donna Engdahl of Olympia, Wash., Jewell and Ed Godfrey of Cleveland, Tenn., and the late John Acuff Sr. Mr. Engdahl graduated from Baylor School and attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He is a contractor with Engdahl Construction.

Mr. Guin received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from UTC. He is a firefighter with the Signal Mountain Fire Department, and is assistant director of youth ministries at Signal Crest United Methodist Church.

Mr. Owen is a graduate of Notre Dame High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He is pursuing a master’s degree in education at the University of Memphis. He is a teacher for Immaculate Conception Middle School in Memphis.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary R. Higdon of Etowah, Tenn. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Bobby K. Cline. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Ashleigh Cline was the bride’s honor attendant and Alan Cline served as best man. A reception was held at the church. The couple plan a wedding trip to the beach in the summer. Terri Crider performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Rod Anderson and Elaine Byers of Flintstone, Ga. Parents of the bridegroom are DeWayne and Betty Curtis of Lubboch, Texas. Bridesmaids were Brandi Samuelson, Sarah Beach, Danielle Ellis, Malerie Ashmore and Liz Raleigh. Emma Kate Lewis and Grace Crider were junior bridesmaids. Kayleigh Huff and Teagan Fleming were flower girls. Joel Curtis served his brother as best man. Goomsmen were Zack Sullivan, Matt Sullivan, Jeremy Scheurer and Daniel Anderson. Josh Clayton was ring bearer. A reception was held at Tennessee RiverPlace. After a wedding trip to Aruba, the couple resides in this city.

Mr. Ingle received an associate’s degree in chemistry from Chattanooga State Community College. He is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
