Clark and Harris
The engagement of Anne Patton Clark and Alexander Scott Harris is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Pollard Clark Jr. of Huntsville, Ala. Parents of the future bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. William Orgain Harris IV. The wedding is planned for Saturday, June 16, at Church of the Nativity, Episcopal, in Huntsville, where the bride-elect is a member. The future bride is the granddaughter of Mrs. Cruse Patton Clark of Huntsville, the late Rev. James Pollard Clark, and Cmdr. and Mrs. V.C. Whitmire of Pensacola, Fla. Miss Clark is a graduate of Virgil 1 Grissom High School. She received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Emory University, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She is a management consultant in Atlanta. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Carroll Anne Harris of Annapolis, Md., Lt. Col. and Mrs. William Orgain Harris III of Virginia Beach, Va., and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Alan Miller of Phoenix, Ariz. Mr. Harris is a graduate of McCallie School. He received bachelor’s degrees in economics and Spanish, magna cum laude, from the University of the South, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. Mr. Harris is an investment banker in Atlanta, and is a member of Christ United Methodist Church.
Cooper and Poythress
The engagement of Kristina Blair Cooper and Matthew Henry Poythress is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Gary and Susan Cooper. Parents of the future bridegroom are Michael Poythress and Katie Hawkins. The wedding is planned for Sunday, April 22, at Welcome Valley Village in Benton, Tenn. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Jeff and Diane Clevenger of Talladega, Ala., and the late Bill and Peggy Browning of Guild, Tenn. Miss Cooper is a graduate of Central High School. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Dr. Harry Hawkins, the late Edie Hawkins, the late Frank Poythress and the late Reba Poythress. Mr. Poythress is employed through Ironworkers Local 704.
Davis and Weiss
The engagement of Arwen Davis and Michael Weiss is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Grant and Tamara Davis. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late John and Angelyn Davis, Joe Grooms of Jackson, Tenn., the late Maxine Grooms, and the late Edward Karaba. Miss Davis is a graduate of Webster University. She is employed in marketing. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Joyce Weiss of Plainview, N.Y., the late Joe Weiss and the late Fred and Geraldine Catalano. Mr. Weiss is a graduate of Florida Atlantic University. He is employed in public relations.
Smith and Turpen
The engagement of Lauren Elizabeth Smith and Kenneth Michael Turpen Jr. is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Jim and Cindy Smith. Parents of the future bridegroom are Ken Turpen of College Station, Texas, and Lisa Turpen of Hagerstown, Md. The wedding is planned for Sunday, May 20, at The Grandview on Lookout Mountain. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Evelyn Rogers. Miss Smith received a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She is employed in retail management, and is a member of Ooltewah United Methodist Church. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Bill and Karen Starr of Madisonville, Ind., and Adelle Turpen of Wimberly, Texas. Mr. Turpen received a bachelor’s degree in physical education, health and wellness from Southern Adventist University. He is a resident instructor at Bethel Bible Villlage, and is a member of Collegedale Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Baggett and Coxey
The engagement of Rachael Lauren Baggett and Jacob Levi Coxey is announced today. The future bride is the daughter of Greg and Becky Baggett. The future bridegroom is the grandson of Frances Travis of Dayton, Tenn., Gordon and Alene Smith of Pikeville, Tenn., and the late James Paul and Wilma Coxey. Mr. Coxey is a graduate of Rhea County High School. He received a degree in applied chemistry from Tennessee Technological University. He is employed as an analytical chemist for W.R. Grace.
