Katherine Holland Geil became the bride of Garrett Whitcomb Smyth in a ceremony on Saturday, Jan. 16, at White Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, N.C. The Rev. Franklin Golden and the Rev. Gloria Johnson performed the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Joseph Blanton and John McIntosh Geil, all of Raleigh. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Owen Rockwood Smyth. Ann Woodward Geil Godwin and Krista Blanton Young, sisters of the bride, served as matrons of honor. Bridesmaids were Christina Cerwin Allen, Nancy Upton Cobb, Mary Blair Hinton, Martha Gardner Sickles and Nora Dicks Bowden Shepard. Martha Bowles Godwin and Mary Holland Godwin were flower girls. Mr. Smyth served his son as best man. Groomsmen were Owen Rockwood Smyth Jr., Braden Wallace Smyth, Jacque Roderick Collett, Michael Francis Gunnells and Todd Dennis Eischeid. A reception was held at the Carolina Country Club in Raleigh. The couple took a wedding trip to Colorado. They will reside in Raleigh.
