Bryson to run for governor

Nashville Bureau

NASHVILLE Saying that Tennesseans need a clear choice, state Sen. Jim Bryson, R-Franklin, announced Tuesday that he will seek the GOP gubernatorial nomination in the race against Democratic Gov. Phil Bredesen.

The 44-year-old Sen. Bryson, who is completing his first Senate term, said we will work hard to make sure theres an end to politics as usual.

Sen. Bryson acknowledged that many observers believe he has an uphill battle to unseat Gov. Bredesen, who had $4.4 million on hand as of his Dec. 31 campaign financial disclosure.

But Sen. Bryson noted that when he ran for the state Senate, it was a race that very few people gave me a chance to win ... We worked hard, we overcame the odds, we proved the pundits wrong, and we won.
