McCallie School has named Dan Wadley as its new varsity basketball coach.
Wadley had been at Tennessee Temple High School for 26 years, coaching girls basketball for 15 seasons and the boys program the last seven years, winning back-to-back Class A state championships in 2002 and 2003.
Ive prayed about this for several weeks, Wadley said. Everything just kind of fell into place and Im very excited about the opportunity.
Wadley, who was also Temples athletic director for more than 20 years, replaces Ken Henry, who resigned immediately after taking McCallie to the Division II state tournament this season.
We had a tremendous amount of interest in the job, McCallie athletic director Bill Cherry said. So much so that it really weighted me down.
But Dan is a guy that Ive personally had a lot of respect for through the years. He did a great job at Temple and is a man of great character. It really was just a natural fit.
