Dalton, Ga., cyclist Saul Raisin was put into a drug-induced coma this morning following a crash in the Circuit de la Sarthe, according to VeloNews.com, a cycling magazine Web site.
Doctors in Angers, France, said today the injuries to his body from Tuesdays crash were not life-threatening, but he suffered a facial impact and related brain hemorrhage. Doctors induced the coma to reduce pressure on his brain, according to the site.
Dalton Mayor Ray Elrod made a statement today and noted that officials here in March named a 1.5-mile mountain bike trail and park Saul Raisin Woods in honor of Mr. Raisin.
