A Hamilton County jury sitting in Criminal Court announced today that it will return Wednesday to continue deciding the fate of a Harrison man accused of raping a male child multiple times since the child was 11.
Jeffrey M. Moore is charged with one count of child rape and two counts of rape, authorities said.
Jurors deliberated about three hours before deciding to retire for the evening and return tomorrow.
During closing arguments, Assistant District Attorney Mary Sullivan Moore, who is not related to the defendant, called the defendant a sick, disgusting, perverted waste of a human being.
Defense lawyer Jerry Summers argued that the alleged victim, who now is 17 and not identified here in accordance with Chattanooga Times Free Press policy, is not being truthful.
