A Nature Weekend will be held April 21-23 at Edgar Evins State Park in Sweetwater, Tenn.
The event will be hosted by Friends of Edgar Evins State Park Inc., Tennessee Trails Association and Edgar Evins Marina & Edgar Evins State Park.
Registration for the weekend activities will be held at the Camper Registration Building located at the entrance to the campground at the park on April 21 from 4 to 6 p.m. and on April 22 from 8 to 10 at Edgar Evins Park Office. A $5 donation for adults and a $2.50 donation for children up to age 15 are requested.
Free camping is available for program participants. A 15 percent discount will be given at The Sweetwater Grill located at Edgar Evins Marina upon presenting a registration card that will be handed out to participants at the registration booths.
The schedule includes:
April 21 at 7 p.m. Meet at the Camper Registration Building for a Wildflower Slide Show.
April 22 Meet at the park office.
8 a.m. Bird walk led by Larry McFarlin. Bring your own binoculars.
9 a.m. Wildflower walk led by Jim Poteet
10 a.m. 4-mile hike. Bring water, a snack and wear hiking shoes/boots
1 p.m. Wildflower walk led by Jim Poteet. A boat ride to see the Hyacinths will be available immediately following the walk.
6 p.m. Meet at the Camper Registration Building at Edgar Evins State Park for Save Our American Raptors Program. There will be live demonstrations and hands on participation. Bald Eagles, hawks, kestrels, and owls will be included in the SOAR program. There will be a campfire, music, and storytelling immediately following the SOAR Program in the area just below the Camper Registration Building at Edgar Evins State Park.
April 23 at 9 a.m. Meet at the park office for a 4-mile wildflower hike. Bring water, a snack and wear hiking shoes/boots.
