Three Republican candidates have dropped out of the GOP primary for the 31st state House District, leaving five GOP hopefuls on the Aug. 3 primary ballot.
Jeff Lewis, George Thacker and David Norton withdrew from the primary in the race to replace Rep. Bo Watson, R-Hixson, according to Hamilton and Rhea county election officials. Rep. Watson is running for the 11th District state Senate seat.
Jim Cobb, Randy Fairbanks, Christian Lanier, John McDougal and Ed Warren are running in the GOP primary, while J. Glenn Moseley is the lone candidate running in the Democratic primary. The winners will face off in the Nov. 7 general election.
Thursday was the deadline to withdraw from the Aug. 3 ballot.
Joey Warwick withdrew from the Hamilton County General Sessions Court Division 2 race, and James Kennamer withdrew from the Signal Mountain judge race, according to the Hamilton County Election Commission.
