A construction crew accidentally broke a gas line today in the 1200 block of Wisdom Street, Chattanooga Fire Department spokesman Bruce Garner said.
Chattanooga Gas Co. officials responded to the leak and told the fire department that it would take about an hour to stop it and repair the line, Mr. Garner said.
Two nearby businesses were evacuated as a precaution, and traffic was being diverted at Riverside Drive on one end of Wisdom and on Belle Arbor on the other end, Mr. Garner said.
