Bradley County commissioners today voted to counter a Chancery Court motion by trustees of the former county hospital seeking control of $20 million to $30 million in proceeds from the sale by filing their own counter-motion.
Also today, the United Way of Bradley County offered to use its own, existing structure to act as a foundation to distribute the funds. United Way officials said that would allow a compromise to end the standoff between the commission and the hospital board of trustees.
A motion on the commission agenda to dissolve the board of trustees was withdrawn, but the sponsor said it could come back for a vote later if the United Way offer fails to bear fruit.
