Tennessee wildlife officials have trapped another black bear near the Polk County campsite where a family was attacked last week, but the animal will not be killed until tests on the first bear are complete, they said.
Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officials said the bear trapped and killed Sunday failed several tests that would link it to the attack. The agency has collected DNA samples for forensic testing, which could take several weeks, officials said.
A six-year-old girl was killed in the attack. A woman and 2-year-old boy who were mauled remain in stable condition at Erlanger hospital and T.C. Thompson Childrens Hospital, officials said.
