Food: Hixson getting more restaurant selections

Filed by Anne Braly

The Longhorn restaurant on Highway 153 is now open, with Olive Garden soon to follow. Moe's Southwest Grill is now building a new restaurant in the area - the other is on Gunbarrel Road. So, what's next to come?

Remember when East Brainerd was nothing more than a cow pasture? Will the northern reaches of Highway 153 become a restaurant mecca such as the area around Hamilton Place? I hope not. There's something good about having choices, but too much is not a good thing, I believe.

When the day comes that Soddy-Daisy passes liquor by the drink, I envision the drive from Northgate to Harrison Lane as being one filled with sights and smells of restaurant chains all driven to expand. So much for the beautiful woods and other natural sights.
