National Weather Service officials said there is a 40 percent chance that showers and thunderstorms may return today.
Lightning and thunderstorms today caused more than 1,000 residents in the Chattanooga area to be temporarily without electricity, officials said. Power for most residents was restored by late this afternoon.
Lightning also struck the Brainerd Church of Christ. Bruce Wooley, minister, said the congregation may have tonights Bible study without air conditioning, but the service will go on.
Several Chattanooga residents reported seeing quarter-sized hail during todays storm.
