We hope all Hamilton Countians appreciate how fortunate we are to have Claude Ramsey as Hamilton County mayor —; and that he is running for re-election.
Mayor Ramsey is an intelligent, lowkeyed but hard-driving citizen of great ability, who is dedicated fully to advancing all that is good for our people and our community.
We first became aware of him when he was a youngster named Outstanding Young Farmer by the Jaycees in 1967 and 1969. He was in the unique business of raising strawberry plants and shipping them throughout the nation.
He has had many other leadership roles since then. In addition to winning many awards, he served two terms as a state legislator, was county assessor of property from 1980 to 1994, was a delegate to the 1977 Tennessee Limited Constitutional Convention and has been county executive (the office has since been renamed county mayor) since 1994.
He is forward-looking, sound in seeking to improve education and promote industrial and business development, with the Enterprise South industrial park being a major example. He is progressive, non-confrontational and nonpolitical in his outlook.
Mayor Ramsey is unopposed May 2 in seeking the Republican nomination for reelection in the Aug. 3 general election, with Brian Johnson being unopposed for the Democratic nomination.
We give thanks for Mayor Ramsey’s effective and enlightened leadership and look forward to his re-election.
