Three able men are running May 2 for nominations to be judge of Circuit Court, Division 2 —; guaranteeing we will have a good judge when one is finally elected in the Aug. 3 general election.
Jeff Hollingsworth is unopposed for the Republican nomination. A Signal Mountain resident and member of the prestigious Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel law firm, he is a graduate of Tulane and the Louisiana State University Law School and was an able assistant district attorney in Hamilton County before entering private practice here.
An elder at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church, an Army reservist, president-elect of the Kiwanis Club and active in many civic affairs, he has an excellent reputation for ability and integrity.
Two candidates are seeking the Democratic nomination to oppose Mr. Hollingsworth in the August general election. Both Tom Crutchfield and Steven W. Grant are respected attorneys.
Mr. Crutchfield has deep family roots in Chattanooga history and has practiced law here since 1975. He has been active in civic organizations and has been recognized for his pro bono legal work.
Mr. Grant is a member of the Grant, Konvalinka & Harrison law firm, and has specialized his law practice in financial and estate planning, federal and state taxation and general business.
All three are engaging gentlemen with good reputations. We will be interested in which one Democrats select to oppose Mr. Hollingsworth in August. In any event, we expect to have a good judge.
