Two fine lawyers who have been good members of Attorney General Bill Cox’s staff are running May 2 in party primaries to face each other in the Aug. 3 general election, to succeed retiring Criminal Court Judge Doug Meyer.
Barry Steelman is unopposed in seeking the Republican nomination. Rodney Strong is unopposed in seeking the Democratic nomination.
It is encouraging to find such good candidates for such an important office.
Mr. Steelman is a Carson Newman and University of Tennessee Law School graduate who engaged in private practice before joining the attorney general’s staff.
Mr. Strong attended East Tennessee State University and Cumberland Law School before private practice and becoming an assistant attorney general.
