Hamilton County Criminal Court Clerk Gwen Tidwell has announced her candidacy for re-election to the post she has held since 1994.

Ms. Tidwell, a lifelong Chattanoogan, pointed to her fiscal responsibility to demonstrate why she should be re-elected.

“I look forward to campaigning in the communities of the only home I have ever had and reporting to my employers, the voters and taxpayers of Hamilton County, on how I handled their trust and confidence,” she said.

She is unopposed in the May 2 Democratic primary but will face Johnny Horne, who is unopposed in the Republican primary, in the Aug. 3 general election.
