Fowler to head conservative advocacy group

By Andy Sher

Nashville Bureau

NASHVILLE — State Sen. David Fowler, R-Signal Mountain, who is not seeking re-election, said today he will head a newly formed conservative advocacy group that will lobby lawmakers and engage in grassroots efforts to promote “pro-family” issues.

The Family Action Council of Tennessee is associated with the national advocacy group, Focus on the Family.

Sen. Fowler called his new role as executive director “exciting and scary.”

“It will allow me to engage fully in those issues that really brought me to the Legislature in the first place without the ‘distractions’ of all the other things we must do, discuss and debate up here,” said Sen. Fowler.
