NASHVILLE —; The House Education Committee today approved plans for a state education “summit” in a resolution brought by Rep. Tommie Brown, D-Chattanooga.
Rep. Brown said House Joint Resolution 1026 is intended to open up a broad discussion about the future of education in a state where only 59 of every 100 9th graders will graduate from high school on time.
The resolution now goes to the House Finance Committee. If approved there, it will go to the House floor. If passed in the House, it then will go to the Senate.
