Memorial Hospital officials met with East Chattanooga residents Wednesday to seek their support for a proposed helicopter landing pad, but several people had concerns about noise and safety.
Hospital officials want a helipad to provide access to air ambulances for cardiac patients who need emergency care. The helipad would be in Glenwood but also near the Avondale community.
Many patients who need care for heart attacks can’t be treated at Memorial because they can’t get there fast enough, hospital officials said.
Hospital officials said earlier this month that they would like to be ready to begin the air ambulance service by the end of June.
