Five officers in the Chattanooga Police Departments fugitive unit were honored by the Exchange Club of Chattanooga today. The unit was created by Chief Steve Parks in 2004 and has made more than 500 arrests.
Sgt. Edwin McPherson, and investigators Jonathan Bryant, Robin Davenport, R. Craig Thompson and Charles Topping were recognized.
They are warriors, Deputy Chief Skip Vaughn said at the ceremony Tuesday.
Sgt. Kevin Akins, who is leaving the child abuse unit after six years, also was honored for his work in protecting children. He will begin patrol duties next week.
