Two top officials with the Chattanooga-based BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee were among 17 government and industry leaders appointed today to a new initiative designed to promote electronic health records in Tennessee.
Gov. Phil Bredesen appointed BlueCross President Vicky Gregg and Jana Lynn Skewes, president of the BlueCross subsidiary Shared Health, to a new panel charged with overcoming obstacles to more web-based transfer of medical information and records. The group, known as the Governor’s eHealth Advisory Council, will develop recommendations to spur Tennessee’s health care industry into using more electronic health records for quicker, cheaper and more reliable data transfers.
“I think this council is going to be unbelievably important,” said Antoine Agassi, a former executive for Spheris Corp., WebMD and Envoy Corp., who will chair the advisory board. “It’s a well balanced group of individuals who I believe can help Tennessee move ahead and deal with the obstacles we face to making these important changes.”
The members of the council include Antoine Agassi of Nashville, chairman; Peter Dudley Greaves of Lebanon, senior enterprise architect for HCA Healthcare; Denise D. Wood of Collierville, chief information security officer for FedEx Corp.; David H. Sensibaugh of Kingsport, director of integrated health for Eastman Chemical Co.; Marlin Clifford Chapman of Smyrna, director of human resources at Nissan North America; Linda Eskind Rebrovick of Nashville, vice president of health care for Dell Corp.; William R.
