New electic bus manufacturer set for Chattanooga

A new electric bus manufacturing company plans to start up in Chattanooga as its officials cite high fuel prices and improved technology as drivers of the business.

Albert E. Curtis III, a Chattanooga consultant and business owner who will serve as EV America’s chief executive, said today plans are to begin operations at the TVA Test Track facilities off Amnicola Highway where it will do research and development activities.

The company plans to move into a manufacturing site in the Chattanooga area early next year, Mr. Curtis said during the Tennessee Valley Corridor summit.

He said the company is to have up to 25 employees on board in 2007 with plans to grow that number as the business expands.
