It’s been quite some time since I’ve gone through a drive-through line at a fast food restaurant, but I took the chance at a Hixson restaurant recently.
And I couldn’t have made a worse mistake. What is it with drive-through employees? What is it that they don’t understand? It’s either they leave something out, or, in my most recent case, got it all wrong. I asked for a plain bean burrito —; no cheese, no rice. She said they had those, so great. I placed my order. Then, when I got to the window, I decided I wanted chips and salsa. She said, “chips and salsa?” I answered in the affirmative. Then she hollered into the kitchen, “Add nachos and cheese to that order.”
I assumed she was talking about someone else’s order, so stupidly said nothing.
When I got back to the office and opened my lunch bag, there they were —; nachos and cheese, no salsa to be found. Oh, and as for the bean burrito? It had cheese and rice.
I’ve told myself before —; always check your bag before you leave the parking lot.
If only for a change I listened to my own advice.
