Occupation: Retired from Chevron. Operated a refinery making products such as gasoline for the use of consumers.

Education: Graduate of Asheville High School in Asheville, N.C. and served in the Navy 4 years.

Family: Two sons, Matthew and Michael, who both live in North Carolina.

Favorite Food: Pear salad with cheddar cheese.

Least Favorite Food: Spinach.

Favorite Color: Green.

Favorite Book: “American Locomotives.”

Favorite Movie: “Gone with the Wind.”

Favorite Sport: Football.

Sports Team: Tennessee Volunteers.

Hobbies: Trains, square dancing, round dancing and card playing.

First Job: After returning home from serving in the Navy, the president of the Coca-Cola Company in Asheville was sitting at his house chatting with his father, so he decided to go to work for Coca-Cola.

Greatest Accomplishments: My two sons and living long enough to retire.

Last Purchases: I just purchased a house in Hixson and I purchased a Chevrolet Ventura.

Goals: I want to live to be 100 and dancing.

What I like most about living in Hixson: I like the mountain air and the weather. I have lived in the south and in the north. I don’t like either one, but I like being here in the middle in Hixson.

Pet Peeve: I don’t like people who tailgate.

Best Advice: Watch what you eat and exercise.

What I would like to see changed in business: Since this is the greatest country in the world, I would like to see people get a decent income. It is ridiculous how many are retiring at minimum wages and how many retired people are still working.

If someone asked me what made this country so great: No. 1: This country is made up of people from every country. No. 2: We all speak the same language.
