Chattanooga Parks and Recreation and the city of Chattanooga's Faith Based Initiative are among organizations teaming up with New Emmanuel Baptist Church to bring the founder of Outreach to America's Youth, Inc., here.
R.V. Brown, a former Chattanooga resident and high school teacher, is expected to speak to dozens of youth and adults at New Emmanuel at 6:30 tonight. Pizza will be served at 5:30 p.m.
It will be the second night of a three-day youth rally that ends Wednesday.
Kenneth Simpson, a city parks and recreation facility manager and youth director at New Emmanuel said he invited Mr. Brown to speak at the rally to motivate youth.
The 295-lb. minister said his strength doesn't come from muscle but from his relationship with God.
"Young people have got to see there is power in the word of God. We have got to set the example," he said.
