SPRING CITY, Tenn. —; Tennessee Valley Authority officials held a drill here today based on a fictional scenario of a nuclear reactor leak that releases radiation at the Watts Bar Nuclear Plant.
Officials said eight schools and almost 27,000 people live in a 10-mile zone around an area that could be affected by a radiation leak.
Local, state and federal emergency officials took part in the drill. More than 1,000 people responded to the mock crisis, which lasted for about six hours, officials said.
