Scenic City sounds: Time to fold 'em

Filed by M. Trevor Higgins

The only thing more stiff than Kenny Rogers face was his stage presence. Oh, he was quite witty in between songs, but the moved his shirt more than his feet moved him across the stage.

I quickly bounced to the Bud Light Stage where Duwayne Burnside was in rare form. He danced, he let the crowd play his guitar, he wore two hats at the same time. An enthusiastic crowd danced along. Another Mississippi native, earlier Covista performer and fellow Strut performer Jimbo Mathus watched much of the set from crowd before finally jumping on stage, grabbing a strapless guitar and playing. I had more fun at this set than any other so far.

And for those keeping score at home, my average race speed during the AAA NASCAR simulator was 36:871 seconds.
