Some 80,000 music fans are streaming into rural Coffee County as the fifth annual Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival kicks off today near Manchester.
Andrew Bowen has attended the event for the last two years, and an 11-hour drive from his Central Florida home ensured his punctuality at this weekend’s installment.
“Bonnaroo’s a once-in-a-lifetime event,” said the Orlando resident. “It’s slanted for everyone —; yet some people don’t have the ambition or money to attend. I’m just glad I’ve been able to go three times.”
The event is known for congesting local roadways, but Tennessee Department of Transportation spokeswoman Jennifer Osborne said traffic on nearby Interstate 24 has been flowing very well thus far.
