Ex-employee charged in utility theft

CALHOUN, Tenn. -—;A former bookkeeper for the Calhoun-Charleston Utility District was arrested today and charged with theft over $1,000, McMinn County Sheriff Steve Frisbie said.

Karen Reynolds, 35, of Calhoun is accused of diverting more than $5,800 in checks made payable to the district for her own personal use, according to an audit by the Tennessee Comptroller’s office.

She was released on a $5,000 bond and faces a July 3 arraignment in McMinn County Criminal Court, records show.
