A proposal to merge the Tourism Development Agency with three other groups has received an endorsement from the TDA board.
The group’s board approved a resolution last week approving its merger with the Carter Street Corp., Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Greater Chattanooga Sports and Events Committee, Hamilton County Commissioner Richard Casavant said.
Dr. Casavant said he proposed the idea himself and was glad the board approved the resolution.
He said the move would make efforts to attract tourism to the area more effective. The idea, he said, would put the authority and responsibility under one person.
“It’s just at the exploratory stage, and it invites conversation,” Dr. Casavant said.
