Former East Tennessee State University golfer Garrett Willis is the early afternoon leader today at 10 under in the Nationwide Tour’s Chattanooga Classic at Black Creek Club.
Willis began his course-record-tying 62 with four pars, then posted four consecutive birdies on the way to making birdies on 10 of his next 13 holes.
Craig Bowden and Kevin Gessino-Kraft each finished at 9 under. Dicky Pride ended his round at 8 under and four are in at 7 under.
Each threesome had teed off by mid-afternoon with 77 of the 156 in the field in the clubhouse. Fifty-nine of those are under par.
Ringgold’s Thomas Hagler IV drove the green on the par-4 No. 10, his first hole, and made the putt for eagle. He then stuck his tee shot close on the par-3 No. 11 and tapped in for birdie.
