Former East Tennessee State University golfer Garrett Willis is the early afternoon leader today at 10 under in the Nationwide Tour’s Chattanooga Classic at Black Creek Club.
Willis began his course-record-tying 62 with four pars, then posted four consecutive birdies on the way to making birdies on 10 of his last 14 holes.
Craig Bowden is in at 9 under and Kevin Gessino-Kraft was 9 under with No. 18 to play. Dicky Pride finished his round at 8 under.
Most of the golfers from the Chattanooga area have afternoon tee times. Scott Weatherly, from Fort Payne, Ala., who tied for first last year before losing in a playoff, shot an even-par 72 in his first round today.
