Caldwell says more attention needed for schools

By Ian Berry

Hamilton County Commission candidate Brian Caldwell said today there are school issues throughout District 4 and the county that need to be addressed.

Mr. Caldwell, who is challenging Democrat Warren Mackey for the District 4 seat, said Central High School in Harrison has had problems with sewage backups, condemned bleachers at the football field and problems with its track.

As another example, he cited his campaign manager’s daughter, who has to share textbooks at the Hixson school she attends.

Mr. Caldwell, a Republican, said his age, 43, and a background that included working his way through school make him the best choice for the seat.

“I’m very energetic, and I’m a doer,” Mr. Caldwell told the Times Free Press editorial board.

The district includes parts of inner-city Chattanooga, including Bushtown and Alton Park, as well as parts of North Chattanooga and Harrison.
