First Person: Friday and what's happening

Filed by Nikole Dugger

Today’s Friday, and the drawers finally open to my new desk.

Sometimes small victories mean much more than the loftier ones.

By now we’ve all grown tired of the syndicated catfight that used to be “The View.” Just think, it all began nine years ago with a cast of Meredith, Star, BW, Joy and Debbie on board.

Seeing as how Al and Tipper Gore were scheduled as guests on Thursday’s show, can anyone explain how their daughter Karenna Gore Schiff came to be a bridesmaid in the Jones/Reynolds wedding?

Few pieces rival Bill Simmons’ chronological columns. Check out his NBA draft diary, if you haven’t already.

Matt Gross took frugal traveling to Albania this week. Greece and Turkey are next.

And, because I still cling to the days of baguettes in Merrion Square Park, enjoy reading about the Irish role during the Battle of the Somme.
