Organizers of the Airshow Chattanooga announced this morning they would donate $235,771 in proceeds from the October event to T.C. Thompson Childrens Hospital. That will be more than double the previous record.
Judy Bellenfant, coordinator of the 2005 Airshow Chattanooga, said sunny weather, higher-than-expected turnout and corporate sponsorships were responsible for the increased revenue from the air show.
Childrens Hospital administrator Susan Burkett OHare said the proceeds would help pay for new bedside monitoring equipment, an expansion of the pediatric intensive care unit and new cardiac ultrasound equipment used to detect structural defects in the heart.
