CHARLESTON, S.C. Former GPS star Tommi Paris scored 19 points to lead Furman to a 66-63 win over the College of Charleston Thursday afternoon in a first round game of the Southern Conference womens basketball tournament.
Paris went 4-for-4 from the free throw line in the final minute, including two that put the Lady Paladins up 62-60 with 55 seconds left.
Her last two made it 64-60 with 0:38 left, but Charleston cut it to 64-63 on an Erica Irick 3 with 0:25 left.
Furmans Chrissy Phelps then hit two more free tosses with 0:19 left before Charlestons Jada Hughes missed a wide-open 3 from the right corner with 0:10 left.
Charlestons Erika Smith scored a game-high 22 points.
